Curriculum

Geography

At Nightingale Primary School, we deliver a high-quality Geography curriculum which inspires in pupils a curiosity and fascination about the world around them and its people.

The Geography curriculum teaches knowledge and skills through engaging, exciting and relevant opportunities. It actively encourages pupils to undertake in new experiences throughout their time with us. As Geographers at Nightingale, children will have opportunities to explore and compare how people, including themselves, live around the world. We ensure pupils recognise the significant human and physical features of their immediate surroundings and how important these are for us to be able to recognise and identify Eastleigh as our home. As pupils progress, we enhance their locational awareness and bring the wider world around them into the school through practical activities, fieldwork visits and themed days.

Our intent is that by the time children leave Nightingale, they will be equipped with the skills, knowledge and understanding to develop a deeper connection and understanding of the world and their place within it. They will be informed, respectful and active global citizens who embrace cultural differences, consider their own actions and choices and actively invest in protecting the planet.
